AI Awareness – Lyme Disease

While attending family camp this weekend I met a lot of people suffering from various AI diseases. Upwards of 50% of us had dietary restrictions because of this. The kitchen staff was amazing and the camp staff had posted flyers and camp songs about ticks in every bathroom. Lyme disease was forefront on the radar and I wanted to post about it today. I only know 3 people with Lyme, and all of their experiences are different. Their treatment regiments are vastly different. One of them couldn’t find a MD that believed in Lyme Disease. One gave up hope early if ever regaining his health. One common thread for them is nutrition. Good, solid, AIP nutrition does a lot for them. Today we put Lyme Disease out there to help raise awareness. #lymedisease #lymewarrior💚 #aipworks#aip #inflammation#beyourownadvocateforhealth #guthealth#fightfatiguewithfood #ticks#knowledgeispower #dontgiveup

Knowing your fats and cooking temps is huge too, so as a rule of thumb anytime I’m grilling or cooking above 375 degrees these two are my go to oils 😉 just a few months back we were paying over $25 for the coconut oil so Hooray for the price drop! I’ve searched high and low and this is by far the greatest deal I’ve seen on avocado oil as well! AI Awareness – Celiac Disease

Hello AIP Community!

I’m not one to reinvent the wheel, here’s our post about Celiac Disease from our Instagram account. 🙂

Fitness Friday, what’s a Grasshopper?

Hi AIP Community!  Happy Friday!  This week I’ve really tried to mix things up with my workouts because my stomach and energy are not 100%…perhaps the 10 weeks of constant running around over summer has caught up?  My system is OFF and I’m feeling lousy, but I need to keep moving.  SO no, I’m not pregnant, I’m inflamed – what a GREAT T-shirt idea, huh?  copyright Coach Lori 🙂

So this week I did the WOD (workout of the day) at my gym, Tuesday, we went for a hike and that was my workout.  Wednesday I did the WOD at my gym, and Thursday I walked a few miles then did a 3×8 overhead squat at 105# and decided I was DONE.  So below is my Friday workout, that I wrote for all of YOU!  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Be Well!

Meditation

Hello AIP Community,

I wanted to talk a bit about the importance of Meditation on your healing journey.  I was the #1 disbeliever of meditation until my friends, Alex & Shell told me about Dr. Joe Dispenza and his book “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself. ”  It took me a few months to read through the book and start the actual meditations, but when I did, it was nothing short of life transforming.  STRESS is a huge inhibitor of healing, and many times the cause of flareups for most autoimmune diseases.  Stress is linked to cancer, stroke and other life threatening diseases as well.  So why not embrace something that can erase this toxicity from your life?

I’ll admit, making time to meditate was ROUGH.  But stop and think for a moment, we don’t talk ourselves out of making time to shower, eat, brush our teeth, etc…and meditation should fall into the necessity category.  I find that each night before bed, meditating in my bed is perfect – I stay awake for the duration, and my sleep number bed is far more comfortable on my back than sitting in a chair, so Voila, there ya have it.  Some days, like this very day, I steal away for 20 minutes and do a short meditation and it refreshes me and gives me some energy for the remainder of my day.

Start small – Headspace takes you through 10 minute sessions teaching you how to meditate, and the first 10 sessions are free.  Calm is another good App you can put on your phone and use.  My favorite meditations come from Joe Dispenza.  The last 25 minute section of the water rising meditation has me learning how to live each day in gratitude for not only what I have, but what I want to materialize – giving thanks as though it’s already happened, and moving me closer to it actually happening.  SO many good things have come to be since I started this meditation – my thyroid condition is 90% better,  my income has increased, weight came down, my business is thriving, and these are just a few of many examples.

The point is this, Worrying about something is like praying for it to happen. If our thoughts are that powerful, why not put them to POSITIVE use and make amazing things happen for ourselves and others?  You can even meditate and visualize disease and illness leaving your body.  The possibilities are endless, and the stress of daily life withers away.

My challenge to you is to start meditating this week.  Start with a promise that 2-3 times a week you’ll dedicate 10 minutes to meditating…and build from there.  Just like with nutrition – you’re not on a DIET or some crash course for temporary results.  You’re making a lifestyle change that will increase your health forever!

Anti-Inflammatory help – FISH OIL

Image may contain: drink

All good things about this fish oil by Apex Energetics.  It keeps your Omega 3s and 6s in balance and greatly reduces inflammation.  I set it up next to the rubber ducky unicorn, because to me, it’s equally as magical!

When my inflammation was super high I took 2 tablespoons in the morning, and 2 before bed.  Now that things are better, I take 1 tablespoon in the morning right after I drink my 2 cups of freshly juiced organic celery.

Fitness Friday – Let’s Walk

Hello Friends, the message is simple, take it back to basics and walk a bit.  Up and down a hallway, around the house, around the neighborhood, at a park, on the beach, at the mall–don’t worry about distance, set a goal to walk for time.  Breathe deeply and enjoy!
